Why kinesiology?
What does it do for you anyway?

If I had to define kinesiology, then I would say it’s the ultimate time saver.

I’ve had 15 years experience with kinesiology now. I’ve also lectured on the subject. And this is how I would define it.

It allows you and me to head straight for the underlying cause of the problem. And identify the best way to solve it.

No beating around the bush. 

In a nutshell, it saves you time and money. Because it cuts to the chase.

Oh, and it’s pronouned keen-ee-zee-aw-le-gee. 

A map to guide you

That’s what kinesiology allows me to create for you: a uniquely tailored change strategy map.

And what do you need to get there?

The map shows you the underlying cause, and the symptoms that you have been experiencing around it.

To help you transform and find solutions, I then create a strategic coaching program based on this map. One that’s tailored just for you.

Very few coaches or kinesiologists do this. Just ask. And I think that they really need to.

This mapping process is possible because kinesiology offers us something unique.

Define kinesiology

Kinesiology is defined by the use of a gentle, bio-feedback mechanism called muscle-testing. This allows a kinesiologist to tune into your entire bio-system. This includes:

  • Your mindset, belief system and neurology
  • Your body, right down to your brain chemistry and hormones
  • The precise cause of the problem – which is often not what you think.

Essentially, a kinesiologist is trained to ask your bio-system questions. And to identify your system’s responses.

And you better hope they’re asking the right questions! 

How it works in practice

Most people come to me with acute awareness of their symptoms. 

Take anxiety for instance.

15 years of coaching people one on one has taught me this: 

Anxiety does not exist on it’s own.

It’s simply a sign that something else is going on. And it needs your attention.

It’s motivation to inquire deeper, roll up your sleeves, and get some inner work done. 

I can use kinesiology to pinpoint the underlying causes in just one session.

So you don’t have to beat around the bush guessing for months or years.

The underlying cause can be about an emotion of anger, sadnes, fear hurt or guilt.

Sometimes it can be about a biochemical or hormonal pattern.

Very often, it’s about a mindset strategy that worked for you at some point in time. But is backfiring now. 

Kinesiology allows me to pinpoint exactly which emotion, physical issue or mindset strategy are involved.

Rather than taking months to uncover, you and I can find out immediately.

Why do this? Why uncover the underlying causes?

Because it allows you and I to pinpoint how to break out of that pattern. In a long-lasting way.

This is a key part of how I define kinesiology. But it is not shared by all kinesiologists.

Many kinesiologists stop their enquiry at the first sign of an underlying cause. Without taking the time and care to dig deeper. And uncover the true underlying cause. Or the multifactorial underlying causes.

It doesn’t actually take that long.

Without the full picture, many kinesiologists are unable to provide a full and sustainable transformation.

This is why you want to choose your kinesiologist carefully!

When kinesiologists fall short

On occasion, I meet people who say they’ve tried kinesiology. And it didn’t work for them.

They describe experiences where they were told some odd things by their kinesiologist.

Like “you’re depressed.” Or “you have a problem with anger” or a problem with ________.

But what they heard made no sense to them. It didn’t ring true. 

As a result, they left that appointment feeling like they had just wasted their time.

I hope you haven’t had this experience too.

I hear stories of kinesiologists who insist that what they’re saying is true. And they start arguing with their client about it.

Seriously?

This is one of my pet peeves. It gives the industry a bad name. 

Sadly, we don’t define kinesiology in a way that includes savvy communication skills.

Or in a way that requires the kinesiologist to step outside their own bias or perception filter – to understand your world view. 

Or to fully connect with you. And communicate with you in ways that make sense to you. Without their own bias at play.

Because of my NLP background, I know that this is a learnable skill. And training is essential for this.

I’d also like to see training that helps kinesiologists map your mindset. So they can provide useful guidance. This is a core part of the NLP training that I received.

It’s still an amazing tool – in the right hands

For all that I’ve shared above, I still believe that kinesiology is an amazing tool.

It can save you time and money. And help you avoid the trial and error approaches that many coaches, counsellors or psychologists use. 

And the concerns I shared above also apply to coaches, counsellors and psychologists.

There are good practitioners. And there are practitioners who miss the mark. In any field.

To this day, I deeply appreciate what kinesiology allows me to do: To consult your bio-system for the right answers. And to cut through the chase. 

It’s about precision. This is the most important part of how I’d define kinesiology.

I’ve used kinesiology in my coaching work for nearly 15 years now – helping hundreds of clients succeed.

And get more done – with ease and joy. And without burning out.
